Instructional Intranet Site

Many companies have an intranet. Among other things, these networks are often used to deploy vast amounts of information to employees; this is the case at NB Power. Our task was to redesign and rebuild a portion of their intranet that provided benefits details to employees—hundreds of pages of content. As a learning consulting and solutions company, we approached the content and functionality from an instructional perspective, which significantly improved information transer and user engagement. While not a pervasive idea in the industry, standard websites can benefit from an instructional approach.

 

Instructionally Designed Websites Yield Massive Results

Most websites intend to transfer information to visitors on some level. Instructional theory, the foundation of instructional design, attempts to ellucidate how to maximize information transfer. As such, by having your website instructionally designed, users will have a far more meaningful experience.

Data Collection Website

We are pleased to work with researchers at UNB's Faculty of Education in developing a data collection website as part of a Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSRHC) funded intiative. The project requires a highly customized survey and corresponding database, which will allow for robust data analysis. Additionally, the site is designed to maximize ease of use and engagement; it exemplifies the future of online research.
